captivated

bush adventure shot taken on my diana

a cat and a man in a rocking chair outside the warehouse overlapped with...

I am most fascinated by moss... this was a beautiful patch of it

its like being in a whirlwind

spinning so fast that you can't distinguish one thing
from another
its all a blur

yet one must find a way to focus in on things
somehow

taking one step at a time
       one breath at a time
       one task at a time

its this time of year hey.
frantic and crazy we all become,
preparing for... many a thing it seems

anyway love it or hate it
soon it will all be over.
the hecticness I mean...

and then everyone disperses
to the coast and beyond...
exciting is the holiday period.

I shall still do more posts before Christmas
as I do in fact have quite a few markets before
Christmas
But whilst I remember
I would like to wish one and all
an oh so wonderful festive season!

This weekend

Rose St Artist Market on Saturday 17 December

The Shirt and Skirt Market on Sunday on Sunday 18 December

At which I shalt have many a lovely present for you to buy
and also on Saturday 24th December
I will be at The Rose ST Artist Market again
for those as unorganized as I
who need to do some last minute gift shopping

anyway that's enough for now

magical sounds in the middle of the bush

oh how glorious it is
to head into the bush
with the only intention being
to dance
to explore
to meet many like-minded folk
to wander
to do as you please

Ah the bliss to be found in attending a festival
How at home I do feel in the middle of nowhere
with just
music
friends

sunshine

These are some special shots taken by the brilliant photographer
An Architect Photographed My Undies, at a festival called
Strawberry Fields, which was a couple of weekends ago...
In them you can see my beautiful friend wearing a new headdress I created for her, but which I have decided to continue making in varying forms...

Peace out wonderful creatures x

my little sister

we are oh so different to each other

its a wonder sometimes that we were bought up in the same house
let alone by the same people...

we used to fight alot when we were little...
perhaps because personality-wise we want and see everything differently...
but somehow
despite all this

we have come out the other end of childhood
as friends... and sisters who appreciate each other
I'm there for her
she is there for me...

I mean your sibling is the one you spend so much time with...
doing nothing in particular together.
playing dress-ups with.
waiting in the car while mum is in the supermarket (taking forever!)
walking to the milkbar to buy lollies.
doing the dishes with.

sometimes when I talk to her I am just like wow...
you are so bizarre
the things she dwells upon
the things she desires
I just don't get it!
and I think she looks at me most of the time and thinks...
you are an absolute nutcase!
why are you doing this strange thing I have never heard of

but we accept each other now

she still doesn't make sense to me at all
but why does she have to.

We seem to laugh alot together.
I think we laugh alot at our own ridiculousness...
And when I sat there today having coffee
and laughing with her about some foolish
adventure she had on the weekend
I just thought...
I'm so glad you are my sister.
I will never have a relationship like this with anyone else

and I love ya guts

that is all

peace out x

when your powers combine

We went on a day long adventure about the amazing grounds of the Convent in Abbotsford which provided oh so much inspiration for all of us...

So many whimsical plants and hidden corners perfect for capturing this story...
I love that by a collection of artistic beings coming together you can create something special that none of you could have done alone...
you are taken on a journey working with each others ideas...

being inspired by each other a work evolves into a joint entity that reflects you all in more ways than one

oh collaboration is brilliant!
I don't get to do it that often but I do indeed love it when I do!

The wonderful creatures who were the parts of this venture are:

Jazmine Thom, an amazing photographer who has just graduated and who initiated this project and pulled everything together, she is full of ideas and motivation!

and Emma Roberts of Studio2 Make up, hair and beauty who I have mentioned before but whom always blows me away with her magically creative ideas. She is one who is never restricted by anything but rather pushes all boundaries that most are contained by.

Anywho I must be off!

Have a lovely afternoon exuberant beings!
Peace out x

double whammy

sooo a big weekend is approaching
and I have been busy as a bee
buzzing

Reckless Exuberance will be having two market stalls this weekend!
one on saturday
one on sunday...
woweee!

and with the beautiful summer-like weather that has been
upon us it seems fitting to have much lovely summer gear
on offer.
For example...
the cotton blend singlets I have been making (pictured above)
these are oversized with big arm holes
so as well as being breathable they drape really nicely on the body
and don't hug the skin at all...
they are cropped too, which makes them perfect to wear with
high-waisted shorts and skirts...

speaking of which...

I have also been making some bold summery hot pants!
These have been received particularly well over the
past few months but only now have I really knuckled down
into the vibrant summer colours...
oh how fun these colours have been to explore!

so if you wish to come check out some summer knitted goodness
from one Reckless Exuberance:

Saturday 19 November
Rose St Artist Market
11am-5pm

or

Sunday 20 November
Shirt and Skirt Market
The Convent
Abbotsford

ooh also check out our lovely new website right here
its pretty spiffy!

hope to see you on the weekend... out in the sunshine!

the whirlwind that is...

there is a laptop inside this here pouch

Why hello there!

Well what hectic times are upon us.
Things seem to be getting busier and busier...
and not just for me, but for everyone it seems

its kinda freaky because its just going to get busier me thinks

but anywho
just thought I'd check in
and let y'all know about a few things

above is a picture of a new product
what is that product you may ask
and to this
I say
a protective laptop pouch!
(wow so that really didn't sound like such a cool announcement to
make in reality, but I think the photo says it better than I)

With a vibrant knitted coat on the outside and a simple striped lining inside too this laptop pouch also has cushioning sandwiched
between these two layers to make it uber protective for your laptop...

They will be available in two different sizes but most
likely not till the beginning of December... maybe end of
November.
I'll let ya know

you might have to actually read the magazine to see the words

ooh and some other news to share

Is an article on Reckless Exuberance in a fully fledged magazine.
Fallen Magazine to be precise.

It is a beautiful quarterly mag that explores current music/art/culture/fashion but the more unique, unusual and interesting side of such things...

Anyway I am excited to be printed on the pages of such a lovely publication!

Well I better be off but
just to let you know
Reckless Exuberance is having a stall at
The Rose St Artist Market this Saturday
11am-5pm

an eagles curious story

an eagle of the rare knitted variety was flying high above melbourne

when all of a sudden he fell...  like he was being drawn to earth by some strange force... luckily he wasnt injured!

and like a perfect twist of fate here he did fall...

and it just happened to be
the very special 5th birthday of this wondrous place
of frivolity and theatrical magic

here he found a nest and a new place to call home

branching out

so it may have taken a while to master
but now i am rather happy with this here new product!

I have begun knitting cushion covers.
Made from 100% wool with pretty handmade buttons
to finish them off.

The cushion inserts inside these are made
from recycled PET bottles making them
a particularly sustainable item to adorn the home.

I was pretty excited by these cushion inserts and
even discovered that each one contains 25 bottles...
which means preventing 25 bottles from going to landfill!

These are going to be available for the first time
tomorrow at The Rose St Artist Market.

As well as having these available for the first time
there is also going to be a sale on select winter stock...
40% off
which if you ask me is pretty awesome
not that I'm biased or anything he he

This will include wool singlets, dresses and hoods.

So hopefully the weather will stay as splendid as it
is today and I will see you at the market tomorrow!

Peace out exuberant beings x

for real

oh I know, I know
way too long it hath been
I apologize profusely exuberant ones!

but I do have something uber exciting to show!
well you have probably already seen it... (in the images above)
labels! Reckless Exuberance fabric labels!

now I realise this might be something that really
only excites one person, which is me. he he
but I had to share it with you anyway!

my labels and I got together and collaborated
on a little photo shoot...
they pulled some rather lovely poses
and I shot away in excitement...
it was all happenning

in other news
This weekend is going to be a big one at Rose St Market.

I have a new product that will be available for sale which I shalt announce soon, but not now...

Also there will be a sale on a selection of my winter stock.
but only for a limited time that is.
I'm thinking one or two markets at most...
So if this at all interests you then come take a look see.

I will be writing again very very soon with more details
for you...

So stay bold and brilliant out there lovely creatures

homeward bound

the journey is taking many turns
new things are being learnt

I am loving that nothing stays the same
and that there are always more things to discover

popping out the back of winter
and jumping into spring
might be bringing about this appreciation of...
of everything I guess

we have opened up our home
to travellers in the last couple of weeks
and it has been a rather lovely thing

I am beginning to see the value
in sharing your space
with people who you don't know
from places you don't know...
They have different perspectives to share with you
A new energy to contribute to the space

Being settled in your ways can be dangerous I think
but being open to other beings contributing something
new to your life
even if it be temporary
can be so brilliant
homelife has become this ever changing
and evolving thing

it challenges you
but on the same note
it bestows so many unexpected and wonderful things
on you

anyway onward and upwards exuberant beings x

bursting blossoms

blossoms bursting from brown branches
emerging and turning a previously slumbering tree
into a world of colour and texture

oh and not to forget the sweet smells
that drifts into the air
and fill my nostrils

such bliss is spring!

I am ready to conquer a productive week.

after a somewhat unproductive weekend.
Just downed an amazing smoothie
and now to work, to work I go!

I wishes you a magical monday bewildered beans x

not just another pretty pouch

so just in time for spring
and especially in time for the upcoming festival season

these here are new neck pouches
that I believe are
more versatile
more bold and interesting
and more functional
than the previous neck pouches I created.

They are like a tactile and useful piece of jewelery I guess...
You can put some key items like
money, lip balm, keys, sunglasses etc in them
and off you go

Personally I am a rather big fan of not being restricted
by your possessions/accessories and thus I seem to
try to create items that facilitate the freedom
one needs to go off on adventures

These handy new neck pouches will be available
for the first time
tomorrow at The Rose St Artist Market

Maybe catch you there exuberant beings x

whimsical warehouse

out front

basking in the sunshine

at ze knitting machine in ma studio

it is a magical place
this warehouse
much creative goodness is spun inside its walls
exuberance is rampant.
obscure objects everywhere.
theatre sets surround in
an abundance of both beauty and deterioration
a diverse collection of individuals go about intriguing tasks

bewilderment is apparent in those who dare to enter the maze
yes,
it is possible to become lost inside this place
(even if you know it well)
here rules are unnecessary
madness is essential
and magic happens

engrossed

watching someone completely consumed in a task
is something I find so intriguing to watch

whether it is by an activity I can personally relate
to is beside the point...
well sometimes it can be more interesting to watch someone
consumed by a task that you can't quite comprehend...

it seems to me that
you have to be passionate about a subject
in order to also become engrossed by it...
and perhaps that is why it is so fascinating to watch

likewise
how wondrous it is
to be engrossed in something...
to drift off
to a place
where only the task at hand
is in existence
with you

concentration and focus come with such ease
sounds and movement surrounding you do not penetrate this
oh how special these moments can be
and often i don't realise until after

moving on...

this weekend, well on saturday to be specific
Reckless Exuberance will have a stall at
The Rose St Artist Market
11am to 5pm

Come by if you wish as I would surely like to have visitors

Peace out exuberant beings xo

Craft Hatch Market at 1000 £ Bend

some vibrant folk
went wandering
not lost
but aimlessly meandering about,
following their instincts wherever they please...
enjoying their surroundings
curiously playing,
discovering much.
No destination in mind
and without expectations...
oh the adventures they had!

hello there says I
I am so excited to show you these amazing new photos
that were produced in collaboration with some wonderful creative
beings and my very own knitwear.

These photos feature some new garments and older items in new form.

Tomorrow at Craft Victoria's Craft Hatch Market at 1000 £ Bend
these exciting new pieces will be available for the first time at a market.
It seems fitting as this is the first Craft Hatch Market at this lovely new location in the city and thus a perfect occassion to show my new work!
New pieces include loose knit dresses, unisex singlets and cropped singlets as well as Patterned shorts.
These are all great for pieces for layering.
They will be accompanied by new versions of old favourites including headdresses, gloves, phone gloves and more!

Come take a look tomorrow between 11am-4pm
There will be many brilliant handmade wares to see and buy

fearless

phone gloves at Rose St Market on Saturday

I want to be fearless...
I don't want to be scared of things.

Things like
people I find intimidating
or
public speaking
or
saying what I really think about something because I think I'll sound stupid
or dancing in particular situations (he he)

When I realise I am avoiding doing something
because of fear then I want to conquer it...
Fear seems like a ridiculous reason to avoid something

I'd rather look stupid or foolish or uncool (whatever that means)
than not experiencing something.

What I am trying to say is that
I'd prefer to experience things than fear them

Many people seem to avoid the things they are scared of...
I mean things that could fail or might be judged.
It just doesn't seem worth it to me...
Living inside a bubble where you are comfortable
is easy
but
often it seems like a means of avoiding trying
the many things that are out there to be
experienced, inspired by and appreciated

I know I can't choose what I fear
it just happens sometimes
and there are heaps of things I am scared of

but so many things that I was initially scared of
have become things that I love to do...
which makes me think that it is always worth trying things
at least once

eek i hope this doesn't sound like one of
those weird self help books
just thinking out loud i am

xo
